"LE FAIE"

The Faie are a fraction of the Municipality of Varazze, in the province of Savona, 490 m above sea level and 4.6 km from the same municipality to which it belongs.
The village consists of a handful of houses scattered attornianti the church of Our Lady of Grace.
The town is situated in a panoramic position on the slopes of Mount Beigua.
From here the view extends over Genoa, Portofino promontory and over.
The country is characterized by 14 niches with representations of the various stages of the Cross, located along the road that passes through the ring.
Several hiking trails branch off or pass through the village, heading towards Mount Beigua, the Monte Sciguello, Varazze, Alpicella and the hermitage of the Desert.
There are still strong traces of an old mule supported in most sections by stone walls of containment, which connected the Faje with the sea and perhaps went inland up on top of the mountains. In a sudden it crosses the existing road linking the hermitage of the desert, and there takes the name of Il Muraglione, because apparently this seems to be.
Given its cultural isolation that for centuries must have characterized the area, given the tight angle, there is some linguistic difference between the local dialect of Ligurian and that spoken in the provincial capital (Varazze) and coastal towns nearby. It is probably archaic terms, then fallen into disuse, almost certainly linked to the pastoral world. For example the word "sheep", is usually made in most dialects of Liguria with "pègua", but here instead become "fee", a term directly conneso the word "FEA" spread area Provencal and Ligurian Alps.
